Dubai Architecture Introduction

The emirate located on the southeast coast of the Persian Gulf is famous for its skyscrapers, and rampant commercial property development. The UAE real estate came to a sudden halt in the economic crisis which swept the world in 2008. Since then it picked back up.

Key structures to see are the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa tower, the iconic waterfront hotel Burj al Arab, and the unusual 0-14 tower.

Also worth a visit are the Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Anara Tower, DIFC Lighthouse, Dubai Pearl, Iris Bay, Burj Al Alam tower, Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the spectacle of Palm Island.

Famous architects with buildings in the city include Zaha Hadid Architects, Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, RUR Architecture – Reiser + Umemoto. Other key architects to have built in the city include Nikken Sekkei, Schweger Association Architects, Norr Group – Hazel Wong, Atkins and RMJM Architects.
