Dubai Architecture Introduction

The emirate located on the southeast coast of the Persian Gulf is famous for its skyscrapers, and rampant commercial property development which came to a sudden halt in the economic crisis which swept the world in 2008.

Key structures to see are the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa tower, the iconic waterfront hotel Burj al Arab, and the unusual 0-14 tower.

Famous architects with buildings in the city include Zaha Hadid Architects, Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, RUR Architecture – Reiser + Umemoto. Other key architects to have built in the city include Nikken Sekkei, Schweger Association Architects, Norr Group – Hazel Wong, Atkins and RMJM Architects.
