Cabin Fever is an international summer school and festival organised by Hungarian architecture studio HELLO WOOD, bringing together students and architects from around the world to develop socially engaged, sustainable projects through a hands-on design-build approach.

The second edition took place in 2026 in Česká Kamenice. Exploring the relationship between light, space and collaborative design, the programme examined how architecture can foster connections between people, place and nature, using shared creative practice to encourage new ways of thinking about the built environment.

The reconstruction of Přerov City Hall transforms a closed administrative building dating from 1969 into an open, multifunctional civic facility. Its centrepiece is a new glazed staircase on the south façade, bringing the activities of the municipal offices into view from the public realm. The intervention connects exhibition areas with informal meeting spaces and creates a diagonal public route from the ground-floor reception to the rooftop café and registry office on the top floor.

On the boundary between Libeň and Vysočany, the Harfa Rooftop Extension adds a new residential layer to a building dating from the beginning of the 20th century. The owners, two sisters who inherited the property, undertook its first major revitalisation since construction, seeking to develop the family home incrementally and adapt it to contemporary needs without compromising its original character.

The site lies east of the intersection of Mánesova and Na Skalce Streets, along a service road within the interior of the urban block. Its natural eastward slope, descending by almost one storey, became a defining element of the project’s spatial organisation, informing the relationship between the building, its surroundings and the changing levels of the terrain.

The revitalisation of the winery’s oldest section marks another chapter in the collective effort of local winemakers to preserve and celebrate their heritage. Beneath the complex, a network of winding medieval cellars extends through the ground like ancient roots, revealing layers of history that remain intrinsically connected to the site’s enduring winemaking tradition. The intervention carefully brings this historic fabric into dialogue with the winery’s contemporary needs while preserving the character and memory embedded below ground.

Located within the Klafar district in the north-west of the city, the Žďár Wooden Housing development is organised around the traditional city-block model. This urban framework establishes a clear hierarchy of spaces, transitioning from public streets and communal areas to semi-private courtyards and, ultimately, the private front gardens of individual homes.

Designed and built by Petr Novák, the collection of timber studio houses was conceived as a place to live and work in close connection with the landscape, fostering a daily relationship with nature.

This Czech cabin offers both protection from flooding and a quiet shift in perspective—over the river, and perhaps beyond the rush of everyday life. Simply slide open the shutter facing the water to take it in: the gentle splash of the current, the whisper of pines, kingfishers skimming the surface, and rapids breaking softly around the boulders.

The client’s brief called for the design of a new retirement home on the site of a former orchard, located adjacent to a hospital. The project is conceived as a fully barrier-free environment, organized into four independently functioning households accommodating approximately 60 residents. This arrangement promotes a more intimate, domestic atmosphere while ensuring accessibility, comfort, and a high standard of care.

Originally designed to accommodate tourists, the building has been reimagined with a renewed architectural expression and a new civic role. It now functions as a multifunctional community centre, closely integrated with the social and cultural life of the village.

The former InterContinental Hotel Prague, constructed between 1968 and 1974, was the first international five-star hotel in former Czechoslovakia. Designed in the Brutalist architecture style, it stood as a landmark synthesis of architecture, design, and art.
Led by architect Karel Filsak, the project brought together many of the country’s leading creative figures, resulting in a cohesive and highly integrated artistic vision—a true Gesamtkunstwerk.
