Location:Jinan, Shandong province, China
Designed by T.K. Chu Design, the Chamber of Fosun International Center is located in the CBD of Jinan, the capital city of Shandong Province, which is well-known for its spring water and mountains. As a response to the city context, the urban planning of Jinan’s CBD concentrates on the five landmark towers named after “Mountain, Spring, Lake, River, and City”, while the chamber is next to the “Lake”.
Correspondingly, T.K. Chu Design takes inspiration from natural elements, creating an interior composed of sunshine, water, flower, green plants, etc. By refining their organic and curvy shapes, the designers create an indoor atmosphere balancing exquisite city life with naturalism.
According to the function and structure of the ground floor, the entrance hall is divided into two parts, which is reflected by the ceiling. On a half of the ceiling, a lighting atrium is opened with a group of green plants suspended, as if a forest grows reversely. On the other half, the petal’s shape spreads out on the ceiling, so that art and nature embrace the space.
Through design renovation, the spiral staircase is moved to a space bathed with natural light and scenery, merging the above and under ground into one. A leave-shaped crystal chandelier hangs from the ceiling of the staircase, echoing the theme of the design and the scenery of the courtyard.
T.K. Chu Design considers the sunken courtyard in the overall design. So here are streamlines connecting various functional groups, including the reading area, the bar, the waiting area, the reception desk, the tea lounge, and the courtyard.
In the pool area on the 2nd basement level, for fusing a row of columns to the design theme, T.K. Chu Design decorated the L-shaped structure with simple geometric lines and curves. Moreover, the children’s pool is featured with various iceberg-shaped decorations, playful and fascinating.
The scatter of flowers, water ripples, and other natural elements flows freely throughout the chamber. T.K. Chu Design manifests the city’s context in precise proportion and material texture, embroidering a vibrant and hopeful feeling in the contemporary chamber.
