World Architecture Festival 2017 in Berlin

The World Architecture Festival (WAF) will return for its tenth edition at the Arena Berlin in Germany from 15-17 November 2017. World Architecture Festival is now the world’s largest, annual, international architectural event. It includes the largest architectural awards programme in the world, dedicated to celebrating excellence via live presentations to an audience of high-profile delegates and international juries.

The World Architecture Festival Awards programme sits at the heart of the festival, the only global awards programme where architects present their projects live in Berlin to a panel of international judges and delegates. Entries are being welcomed in 31 categories across completed buildings, future projects and landscape. Past winners include Zaha Hadid Architects, BIG, Snøhetta, Isay Weinfeld and Foster + Partners as well as ones to watch Vo Trong Nghia, Farshad Mehdizadeh and Gustavo Penna.

Special awards will be made to exemplary projects, which will be exhibited as part of a tenth anniversary exhibition featuring key winners from the past decade.

2016 was the best attended edition yet, with more than 2,300 of the world’s leading architects and designers attending WAF and its co-located sister event INSIDE World Festival of Interiors for three days of conference programmes, awards, exhibitions and fringe events.

Final deadline for entries to this years awards ends tomorrow midnight – 2nd June 2017.

Entry information:
Shortlisted entrants will compete for category prizes on the first two days of the three-day Festival, which will take place in Berlin on the 15, 16 and 17 November 2017. On the final day, category winners will present again to ‘super-juries’ of experienced and respected judges, who will decide on the World Landscape, Future Project and Completed Building of the Year Awards.

World Architecture Festival 2015
The World Architecture Festival (WAF) is set to make its London debut as part of the capital’s architecture festival in June 2015, reports the AJ today. The main event will still take place in Singpaore (for a fourth time), where it moved to from Barcelona in 2012.

WAF – the largest global gathering in the architecture calendar – will run in partnership with the London Festival of Architecture and will host events and a new satellite exhibition.

Running from 24 to 27 June 2015, the WAF London exhibition will showcase the projects shortlisted in its annual high-profile awards.

The schemes will then go on to be presented in front of the international jury at the festival in Singapore in November.

The plans were revealed by Terry Farrell at MIPIM earlier today (10 March). He said: ‘This is a fabulous opportunity to celebrate, educate and extend discourse on global issues as recommended in the Farrell Review.

World Architecture Festival awards 2014: Final call for entries

Architects from around the world have just two weeks left to submit their entries for the world’s largest architectural awards programme, the World Architecture Festival (WAF) awards 2014, ahead of the submission deadline on 30 May.

Last year’s World Building of the Year award winner, the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, New Zealand, design by Frances-Jones Morehen Thorp:

The WAF awards sit at the heart of the festival, and will see practices from around the world contend for 30 individual category awards and global recognition. Competing across three category groups of completed buildings, landscape projects and future projects, the awards recognise all manner of buildings from residential projects and villas to sporting arenas, factories and hospitals. The architects behind every shortlisted project are invited to present their project live to a panel of judges at the festival, making the case for why their project should win.

The theme for WAF’s main conference sessions in 2014 will be ‘Architects and the City’. Speakers will examine the contribution architects can make, and the way they affect and are affected by, politics, infrastructure, planning, communities and technology. Presentations and panel discussions will feature prominent architects including Richard Rogers; Rocco Yim; and policy makers and urban organisations, including Thomas Wright, Executive Director of the Regional Plan Association of New York.

World Architecture Festival is collocated with INSIDE World Festival of Interiors www.insidefestival.com. INSIDE celebrates the world’s finest interiors of the last year and also has at its heart a live international awards programme. Entries for the INSIDE awards close on 30 May.

Entries have been pouring in from architectural practices across the globe, from small local studios to large international practices including BIG (Denmark); Erginoğlu & Çalışlar (Turkey); Andrew Maynard Architects (Australia); Chiaki Arai Urban and Architecture Design (Japan); Mercurio Design Lab (Italy); Turenscape (China); Architectural Studio Kudin (Ukraine) and Trop (Thailand).

The World Architecture Festival (WAF), the world’s largest inclusive and interactive global architecture event, is returning for its seventh successive year. The festival will once again be taking place at the spectacular Marina Bay Sands resort in Singapore from 1 to 3 October 2014.

The World Architecture Festival (WAF), the world’s largest, live, inclusive and interactive global architecture event, is returning for its seventh successive year. The festival will once again be taking place at the spectacular Marina Bay Sands resort in Singapore from 1st to 3rd October 2014.

Competing across three category groups of completed buildings, landscape projects and future projects, previous WAF award entrants have ranged from renowned global architectural firms to small local practices. Architects of every shortlisted project are invited to attend the festival to give a live presentation to a panel of judges, asserting their case for why their project should win. The winners of each category are put forward to compete for the coveted World Building of the Year award, presided over by the festival’s ‘super-jury’, with the presentation of the award being the culmination of WAF 2014.

The Festival’s organisers, i2i Events Group, have today unveiled this year’s ‘super jury’ comprising of a selection of the world’s leading architects and designers, led by renowned British architect Richard Rogers. Rogers will be joined on the super-jury by Rocco Yim, Julie Eizenberg, Enric Ruiz Geli and Peter Rich.
