In 2016 talented students of interior design are receiving financial support with € 580 per month for one year (a total of € 21,000) to support their academic education. This Europe-wide initiative is made possible by the financial support of the Sto Foundation.
Oftentimes, limited financial resources don’t permit well structured studies, in which the students are able to concentrate on their creative capabilities and innovative ideas.
The scholarship should offer the students free space and relieve them economically.
The Sto Foundation wants to invest with their financial support in the education of the young generation and therefore in the future of society.
Together with AIT, the trade magazine which reports since more than 125 years on news and projects about architecture and interior design, the Sto Foundation supports students with great talent and exemplary commitment. The principal aim should be to afford established and innovative interior architects, to ensure the improvement and diversity of interior architecture.
The Jury deciding upon the awarding of the scholarships consists of a representative of the Sto Foundation, Prof. Peter Cheret | Cheret Bozic Architekten BDA DWB, Uwe Koos (chairman of the foundation board), as well as the renowned (interior) architects Corinna Kretschmar-Joehnk (JOI-Design), Prof. Sabine Keggenhoff (Keggenhoff | Partner), Chris Middleton (Kinzo Berlin), Thomas Vietzke (Vietzke & Borstelmann Architekten) and Kristina Bacht (Director/Curator AITArchitekturSalons; Publishing Director GKT).
All students of interior architecture and comparable degree courses (interior design, spetial design etc.) enrolled at a European university and at least at the end of their second year are authorized to apply for the AIT Interior Scholarship 2016.
Study-related projects as well as an impromptu task have to be submitted: “magical mystery room – Design a room at night, which enigmatically only becomes accessible at second or third glance, which tells a mysterious story or plays with the concealed, the veiled, the ambiguous.
Analyse the nigh-time secrets in the room and make up a short story by means of a series of five to ten pictures, photographs, collages or sketches.
Explain your story concept in a short text.”
Applications are accepted until May 13th, 2016.
The Scholarship will run from July 2016 to June 2017. TWO SCHOLARS WILL RECEIVE 580 EUROS PER MONTH (a total of EUR 21,000) and given the chance to present themselves by staging their own exhibition on a special area at the AIT-ArchitekturSalon in Cologne or Hamburg, Germany.
