University of Delaware Puglisi Hall

As part of the Department of Music at the University of Delaware, Puglisi Hall in the Roselle Center for the Performing Arts supports an active and diverse academic and performance program for students, faculty, the community, and visitors.

Primarily used as a rehearsal hall, Puglisi events range in use from the orchestra and band, to wind ensemble, jazz bands, and early music ensembles, as well as choral performances. As the first stage in a larger masterplan process to revitalize the Roselle Center, Puglisi Hall was slated for renovations to improve the acoustic, aesthetic, and functional properties of the room.

From our expertise in the aspects that make a signature recital hall, MGA worked with the University of Delaware to transform the well-used facility into a vibrant venue for the advancement of the arts and academic pursuits.

Specific architectural interventions included the removal and replacement of a monolithic curved ceiling with panelized reflectors to harness the volume of the ceiling above, lighting upgrades that can be tuned to the needs of performances and rehearsals, and careful integration of architectural panels to perfect the acoustics of the Hall.
