The house is instructive in showing how concrete can be used to create a design as evocative as it is functional. The entire house is a rigid concrete shell cast in pitched roof profile. As conventional as the house form is, the house looks refreshingly unconventional. The space within is a direct reflection of the building shape.

Its proportions and beautifully rendered raw concrete surfaces display the architect’s intuition in the craft. There is a composition of planters hanging on the wall, brought to life by sunlight washing down through squares of skylights patterning the concrete roof, bringing the space to life in turn. The roof concrete is treated to enhance its insulation properties. Various wall openings are designed as abstract geometric motifs giving character to the design. A cool and comfortable living space is the result.

The master bathroom is nicely outfitted in an outdoor corner by perforating the concrete shell over it. It opens into a small private garden made to look naturalistic within the concrete sided confines.

Such clever design touches create character, depth and dimensionality to the space. This house is a definite delight in its simplicity and singularity of ideas.
