Clackmannanshire Council’s Vision For 21st Century Schools
21st Century Education Architecture in Scotland
Scottish School Design
Clackmannanshire Council is embarking on a programme of schools replacement using Public Private Partnership (PPP) process. The Council has desires to achieve the best possible design quality in its new schools and has taken an innovative step in appointing three leading architectural practices to develop design ideas that will be used to assess and benchmark bids received from private sector providers.
Clackmannanshire Council is aware of the importance of achieving designs of the highest quality if it is to succeed in creating the best teaching and learning environments in which its young people can realise their full potential.
Through a process of interview, the practices selected to work with the Council are Glasgow based Gordon Murray and Alan Dunlop Architects and Gareth Hoskins Architects, together with the Edinburgh practice of Richard Murphy Architects.
They are expected to complete their work and produce their recommendations by the end of March. The RIAS is managing the process through its consultancy department. For more info: Brian Moore, Director RIAS Consultancy, Rutland Square, Edinburgh
