Euro 2020 quarter-final: Ukraine v England
Date: Saturday, 3 July 2021
Kick-off: 20:00 BST
Venue: Stadio Olimpico, Rome, Italy
England face Ukraine at Euro 2020 on Saturday, attempting to qualify for their first men’s European Championship semi-final for 25 years. Having ended a 55-year wait for a knockout-tie victory over Germany at Wembley on Tuesday, the football team will face the Czech Republic or Denmark at the national stadium if they win in Rome.
After playing their first four games at Wembley, Saturday’s match in Italy’s capital is England’s first away from home at Euro 2020. Covid travel restrictions mean fans in the UK were advised not to travel to the game. Thus there are likely to be more Ukraine supporters in the Stadio Olimpico than England fans.

Stadio Olympico Roma
Location: Via Foro Italico, north Rome, Italy
Stadio Olympico Roma is home to both major Roman football teams – SS Lazio & AS Roma
Capacity: 82,000 / 72,698
Opened: 1937
Broke ground: 1901
The ground is the largest sports facility in the Italian capital city.
This Italian football ground was the centrepiece stadium for the 1960 Olympics. All terraces got converted into seats, resulting in a reduced capacity of just 53,000 seats. During the Olympic Games, the stadium hosted the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as the athletics competitions.
Eight years later this Rome football ground was the principal venue of the Euro 1968 Championships. It hosted the match for third place and also the final between Italy and Yugoslavia (2-0 after a replay).

In 2007, a vast plan of restyling the internal design of the stadium was laid out, to conform to UEFA standards for the 2009 UEFA Champions League Final which was held in Rome. The work was performed and completed in 2008. It included the establishment of standard structures with improvements in security, the fixing of dressing rooms and of the press room.
