The Motorcycle Residence in Prague

The Motorcycle Residence is a Prague apartment, built around exposed concrete ceilings and dark timber panelling, a material pairing that sets a fairly serious tone before anything else in the room gets a chance to speak. Against that backdrop, one element does most of the talking. A full height glazed wine wall runs the length of the main living space, backlit in green and fitted with circular bottle holders that catch the light from every angle.
The wine wall is not just a display case. It doubles as a walk in room, large enough to step into rather than simply look at, and it stays visible from the sofa at all times. Parked directly on the living room floor in front of it sits a vintage cafe racer motorcycle, treated as a piece of furniture rather than something tucked away in a garage. Between the glowing glass and the motorcycle, the living space reads more like a private showroom than a conventional lounge.
The kitchen sits in dark wood joinery, with a sculpted granite island lit from beneath so the stone seems to hold its own light. It is a heavier, more textured counterpoint to the glass and green glow across the room, and it keeps the material palette grounded rather than letting the wine wall dominate everything.
The primary bathroom takes the opposite approach entirely. Where the living space is dark and reflective, the bathroom is all white, with a faceted freestanding tub and an angular basin set beneath bare concrete overhead. Stripping the palette back to white and raw concrete gives the room a calmer, more clinical register, a deliberate contrast to the theatrical materials elsewhere in the apartment.
The bedroom continues the same material logic as the rest of the apartment, mixing concrete, timber slatting and pale oak flooring. Full height glazing brings in daylight and frames views of the surrounding building, so even in the most private room the same raw materials that define the living space carry through.
Taken together, the apartment is really a study in contrast. Dark joinery against pale concrete, green glass against grey stone, a private wine room against an all white bathroom. The motorcycle sitting in the middle of the living room is the clearest signal of what the whole place is about. This is a home built around objects and materials its owner genuinely wants to live with, not a neutral backdrop designed to disappear.
