G – 5 Houses Chave, Aveiro, Porto, northern Portugal
Architect: SUMMARY

photo : Alexander Bogorodskiy, SUMMARY
The G – 5 Houses project is conceived as a fully prefabricated reinforced-concrete development, using a modular system of panels to form the principal building elements, including façades, roofs and interior partitions.
The standardisation of these components streamlined the construction process while giving the five houses a cohesive and distinctive architectural identity. The prefabricated approach also allowed the project to combine construction efficiency with a strong, consistent design language.

Casa Âncora Alto Minho, North Portugal
Architecture Office: Tiago Sousa Arquitecto

photograph : Ivo Tavares Studio
This contemporary Portuguese home is conceived as a place of memory, encounter and contemplation. The site originally contained a built structure that had been altered over time to accommodate the needs of successive owners, but had developed little meaningful relationship with its surroundings. Much of the existing building was therefore demolished.

Between Two White Walls in Vilamour, Faro, southern Portugal
Architects: Data

photo : Nuno Almendra
Responding to its prominent setting, the design balances openness with seclusion through a series of precisely carved volumes, courtyards and framed views. Solid and void are composed to admit daylight deep into the interior while shielding the living spaces from neighbouring properties, creating a tranquil domestic environment that remains closely connected to its landscape.
The architectural composition emphasises clean lines, generous glazing and a restrained material palette, allowing the changing qualities of light and the verdant outlook to define the character of the interiors. By carefully mediating between enclosure and openness, Casa Colinas establishes a contemporary living environment that is both private and deeply engaged with its exceptional Algarve setting.

Casa da Azenha, Sobral De Monte Agraço, Lisbon Region
Architecture: (umtodo)

photo : Nuno Almendra
Casa da Azenha transforms the ruins of a former watermill into a private residence through a sensitive programme of conservation and adaptive reuse. Responding closely to the client’s brief, the intervention is contained entirely within the existing footprint of the historic structure, preserving its masonry fabric while introducing a carefully articulated contemporary volume within the remains. The project establishes a dialogue between old and new, allowing the site’s industrial heritage to inform a restrained architectural expression that respects the character and memory of the original building.
22 July 2026
Casa FJ, Póvoa de Varzim, Porto, northern Portugal
Architecture: MIL870 + GRAUON

picture : Ivo Tavares Studio
The residence forms part of a wider development of 28 semi-detached houses delivered by the same developer. With the neighbourhood already completed, the project responds to an established architectural context, preserving the visual coherence of the ensemble while accommodating the client’s aspirations. The design carefully balances continuity with individuality, introducing subtle interventions that enhance the home’s identity without disrupting the character of the wider development.
21 July 2026
Chaves House, Vila Real
Architecture: NOARQ

photo : João Morgadon
The site lay behind an informal residential neighbourhood of lower-middle-income housing, where incomplete urban infrastructure defined the character of the area. Natural springs emerged at multiple points across the 3,276-square-metre plot, with water flowing across the ground and spilling onto the adjacent unpaved street. These challenging site conditions became a defining influence on the architectural response, informing both the building’s relationship with the landscape and its approach to construction.
26 June 2026
Melides House, Grandola, Setúbal District
Architecture: Sabrab

photo : Ivo Tavares Studio
A key challenge of the project was to create a substantial residence that would sit lightly within its setting rather than dominate it. Carefully threaded between centuries-old cork oak trees and gently stepping with the natural topography, the house was conceived as an extension of the landscape of Melides rather than an imposition upon it.
9 June 2026
House PV, São João do Estoril
Architecture: Nuno Nascimento Arquitectos

photo : Francisco Nogueira
Located in São João do Estoril, House PV emerges from the transformation of an existing residence shaped by successive extensions and alterations over time. Rather than preserving these additions as isolated fragments or replacing the building altogether, the project seeks to reveal a renewed sense of order. Through a process of careful subtraction and reconfiguration, the accumulated layers are consolidated into a singular architectural expression, establishing clarity, coherence, and a stronger relationship between the house and its surroundings.
5 June 2026
Casa do Alpendre, Vila Franca de Xira, Lisbon Region
Architecture: Vasco Burnay Arquitectura

photo : Ivo Tavares Studio
This residential property design sought not to replicate its context but to establish its own identity, drawing on fundamental architectural principles of scale, proportion and spatial continuity. The result is a house that brings a sense of order and clarity to its setting while engaging thoughtfully with the landscape and the everyday needs of its inhabitants.
18 May 2026
Casa na Comporta, just south of Lisbon, southern Portugal – on the Alentejo coast
Architect: SabraB Architecture

photo : Laura Deus Photolab
Nestled within the distinctive landscape of Comporta—where dense pine forests and scattered cork oaks rise from sandy terrain—this L-shaped residence by SabraB Architecture emerges as a contemporary intervention that carefully balances presence with sensitivity to its natural context.
The home’s L-shaped configuration follows the gentle contours of the site, allowing the architecture to settle naturally within the landscape while framing a protected central courtyard. Conceived as a quiet refuge, this interior outdoor space establishes a seamless relationship between the residence and its surrounding environment, opening toward a layered procession of maritime pines and centuries-old cork oaks.
22 April 2026
T and A Azores House, Ponta Delgada, São Pedro, Açores
Architects: Atelier d’arquitectura Lopes da Costa

photo : Ivo Tavares Studio
The intervention is guided by a fundamental principle: the preservation of what is essential. No volumetric additions are introduced, nor is the building’s footprint altered. Instead, the project engages directly with the existing structure, respecting its spatial organisation while carefully adapting it to meet the demands of contemporary living.

Aguçadoura House II, Póvoa de Varzim, Porto, northern Portugal
Architecture: Raulino Silva Arquitecto

photo : Raulino Silva
This two-story single-family house is situated near Aguçadoura Beach, just north of the city of Póvoa de Varzim on Portugal’s Atlantic coast. The elongated, sandy plot lies below street level and was previously occupied by a small greenhouse used for vegetable cultivation. Aguçadoura is widely recognized for its intensive horticultural production, which has strongly shaped the character of the surrounding landscape.

Beira Mar II Aveiro
Atelier de Arquitectura . Architecture Office: Paulo Martins Arquitectura & Design

photo : Ivo Tavares Studio
The project is conceived as a dialogue between the neighbourhood’s organic fabric and a precise, controlled design language. Clear geometries and rigorous alignments define the composition, expressing a contemporary architecture that remains sensitive to its context.

Casa A, Braga
Architecture: L2C Arquitetura

picture : Ivo Tavares Studio
It began as a whisper to the ground. We did not seek to conquer the slope, but to walk beside it. From this gesture, the architecture unfolded—terraces and plateaus carved like quiet steps, carrying us gently from chaos into order.

House SM, Ílhavo
Architect: Mário Alves Arquitetura

picture : Ivo Tavares Studio
The proposal is structured around two primary premises: the integration of the required program and a careful reading of the site’s characteristics. Although the site presently lacks a built context along its perimeter, this situation is understood as transitional and subject to imminent change.

A Sustainable Small House
DT House is an example of applied energy-efficient principles in architecture. I take Saramago once again: “My relation with time is, above all, very specific….when trying to express it graphically; I understand time as a large screen, a huge screen, where every single event is projected, including the oldest and the most recent. On that screen, everything is side by side in a kind of chaos as if time was compressed and flattened on that surface.”
