Woods Bagot Designs 72,000 Square Feet with High Line-Inspired Design Celebrating Chelsea’s Gallery Legacy and Mid-Century Modernism

Convene, an award-winning hospitality brand that designs and operates premium meeting and event venues as well as flexible office space, celebrates the grand opening of its newest New York City venue, Convene 30 Hudson Yards.

Located on the 24th floor of the iconic skyscraper, Convene 30 Hudson Yards was designed in partnership with acclaimed architecture and design firm Woods Bagot.

Woods Bagot has crafted a sophisticated event venue that celebrates the existing architecture while introducing bold, contemporary interventions. By thoughtfully incorporating approximately 60% of the original fit-out, the design preserves the building’s striking clean lines and spectacular panoramic views.

Convene 30 Hudson Yards opens to serve increasing demand for large experiential events. The venue spans 72,000 square-feet and offers 10 unique meeting spaces with a maximum capacity of just under 1,500 guests. The centerpiece of the venue is a 780-person grand hall, the largest single event space within Convene’s New York City portfolio, that features robust theatrical lighting, a premium point-source speaker system, and breathtaking city skyline views. The strategic use of movable walls allows the grand hall to be divided into two smaller rooms and there are additionally three other divisible event spaces – each of which can be custom-configured to serve various function types and sizes – as well as six boardrooms, a speaker green room, and a respite room. An expansive central gallery with two 20-foot LED video walls and projection mapped partitions provides the ideal backdrop for networking, exhibitors, food breaks, and cocktail receptions.

The design of Convene 30 Hudson Yards draws inspiration from Chelsea’s renowned gallery scene, embracing clean, bright aesthetics and flexible spaces that enhance visibility and adaptability. Like the beloved High Line, the venue forges meaningful connections through journeys that capture the dynamic energy of Midtown and the West Side.

Mid-century modernism infuses warmth through carefully curated materials including:

– Artisanal textured wallpaper creates sophisticated focal walls
– Mid oak wood anchors the palette in custom millwork and accent panels
– Warm wool and linen textiles in amber, terracotta, and charcoal
– Elegantly arranged geometric wood flooring of end grain patterns accented by colorful tiling echo the sophisticated aesthetics of nearby Chelsea art galleries
– Bespoke millwork ceiling rafts with integrated lighting creates a dramatic and elegant mid-century backdrop
– Foliage wallpaper in a variety of colors provide a nod to the vegetation of the High Line.

These carefully selected fixtures and furnishings provide contrasting depth against the building’s contemporary structure, creating a distinctive event destination where New York’s creative energy meets functional excellence.

This is the third time Convene and Woods Bagot have partnered to create a high-design meeting and event venue; they previously completed two London projects: Convene Sancroft, St. Paul’s and Convene 22 Bishopsgate, both of which have won awards recognizing the venue design.

Convene serves as a partner – not just a place – for meeting and event planners, thoughtfully providing clients with everything needed for a seamless meeting and event experience, including:

– A dedicated on-site five-star hospitality team that provides full-service event production resources
– In-house catering managed by award-winning chefs providing delicious and nutritious cuisine with a focus on local and sustainable ingredients
– In-room AV and production technology inclusive of high-resolution screens, theatrical lighting, top-of-the-line sound systems, and built-in cameras and microphones for a seamless hybrid experience
– A customizable space that allows for client and event branding opportunities as well as digital signage screens and totems throughout each location
– Established relationships with external vendors for everything from event entertainment, high-end decor and florals, gifting and favors, step-and-repeats and branded signage, and more

As the largest single provider of dedicated meeting and event venues in the U.S. and UK, and with a growing footprint of flexible office space, the Convene portfolio of brands has a network of nearly 40 locations across nine global cities.
