Developed by Kolter Urban, forthcoming 19-story tower features contemporary architecture, 39 residences, floor-to-ceiling glass, expansive balconies, natural stone and sweeping waterfront views
West Palm Beach, FL (Sept. 23, 2026) – 10 Design, a global architecture and master planning practice, is providing a closer look at the design of Maison d’Or, an elegant 19-story residential tower under development in West Palm Beach. Developed by Kolter Urban, the intimate building includes only 39 residences, ranging from around 3,000 to more than 10,000 square feet. Additional project collaborators include EDSA as landscape architect and HBA Interior Design for amenity and lifestyle spaces.
The building’s central design concept began with the goal of giving every residence a meaningful connection to the waterfront. Maison d’Or, French for “House of Gold,” is oriented to maximize natural light and sweeping views throughout the homes. Flow-through floor plans and expansive terraces on the eastern and western sides are designed so residents can enjoy sunrise views over the Intracoastal Waterway and Palm Beach Island, with the Atlantic Ocean beyond, as well as sunset views over West Palm Beach.
“West Palm Beach has evolved significantly over the past decade, attracting discerning buyers who want the space and privacy of a private estate combined with the services, amenities and views of a newly built condominium,” said Stefano Falbo, Associate Principal at 10 Design. “Maison d’Or was designed in response to that demand as an intimate residential building that maximizes natural light and waterfront views while creating a welcoming pedestrian presence. The result is a contemporary interpretation of West Palm Beach’s architectural heritage.”
Bordering the historic El Cid neighborhood, Maison d’Or offers convenient access to Palm Beach Island, Antique Row, Worth Avenue, downtown West Palm Beach, and some of South Florida’s finest dining and shopping.
Bridging Contemporary and Classical
Rather than replicating the city’s traditional resort architecture, the design reinterprets Mediterranean and Regency influences for the next generation. Strong symmetry and carefully considered proportions create a sense of classical order, while white stucco, soft natural stone, and expansive glass give it a contemporary identity.
The facades showcase floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors, expansive balconies, and numerous windows, all maximizing the views. Rising from a compact waterfront site, the 19-story tower’s slender massing responds to its surroundings by preserving view corridors and blending with the existing neighborhood.
A refined palette of natural stone cladding and smooth white stucco walls contrasts with pale grey laminated glass, creating a sophisticated, neutral aesthetic that integrates with the surrounding built and natural environment. Selected for its rich color and texture, the stone gains added depth in the South Florida sunlight. Metal trims and panels, along with aluminum window and door frames, further amplify the contemporary expression of the building’s facades.
Designed to Complement Its Surroundings
An increased setback along South Flagler Drive creates space for a publicly accessible landscaped garden and plaza, offering a welcoming green space that neighboring residents can also enjoy. On the ground floor, a fitness center is integrated to create an active street presence. A publicly accessible pedestrian walkway connects the South Flagler Drive marina to the east with Washington Road to the west, creating a new east-west connection through the site. Along the western edge, additional planting buffers the building from the surrounding neighborhood while screening service and delivery activity from view.
Maison d’Or reimagines the traditional condominium arrival sequence by placing its vehicular entrance discreetly behind the landscaped frontage. The emphasis remains on gardens and pedestrian space rather than vehicle activity, creating an arrival that feels more like a private estate or club courtyard than a conventional tower drop-off. The absence of on-grade surface parking allows for enhanced landscaping along the Washington Road frontage, further elevating the arrival experience.
The private porte-cochère offers a contemporary interpretation of Regency design, defined by an expressive, tulip-like column supporting a cornice-wrapped canopy. From there, residents enter the lobby and an amenity level featuring indoor and outdoor spaces, as well as guest suites. The interiors carry the building’s Mediterranean and Regency references forward while introducing a distinctive West Palm Beach aesthetic.
Extending east toward the waterfront, the amenity level opens onto a lushly landscaped pool deck. Elevated above street level, the pool is positioned to create the impression of an infinity edge, visually merging its water with the Intracoastal Waterway and beyond.
“When we look at a project like Maison d’Or, we’re thinking about how that building is going to feel five, ten, or twenty years from now,” said Ed Jahn, Senior Vice President of Kolter Urban. “Architecture has to work for the location, but it also has to have a sense of permanence. We wanted to create something that will continue to feel relevant and appropriate for West Palm Beach well into the future.”
