DESIGN NAME:
GSI Tower
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Mixed Use Tower
INSPIRATION:
The Design Concept is inspired by the natural elements of the Caribbean, Cancun is a city of sun, sea and tourism. Being the most important tourist destination of the country, with its beautiful beaches in the Caribbean recognized worldwide. The white beaches, turquoise blue sea, the calm waters, its natural wealth and fun holidays are the aspects that attract visitors.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The building consists of 2 vertical bodies that meet at the top by 2 habitable bridges with an interior garden to form a large frame of the natural landscape. The building is protected from the sun in its west side by a ventilated facade. The skin is designed with a set of silkscreened, and transparent crystals sandblasteados advantage of the views of the golf course in Cancun and the Caribbean Sea.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The interior design expresses dynamism and spatial continuity invite another climb even higher to sit and have a coffee and enjoy the view terrace.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The Project Design start on 2008, finished in 2011 and is located in Cancun, Mx.
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The entire project is realized by BIM system where you can plan all the elements of the work to extract their information to be able to carry out. The materials on the outside are mostly aluminum panels composed for its lightness and aesthetic appeal that gives the project and in the interior wood and aluminum.

GSI Tower has 20 levels, creating a building with 70m height and an area 7500sqm
RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Finding the intentions of the project was to investigate the best way we can transform a representative currently building for the city in the creation of events in an aspirational model that identifies with the natural and architectural context of Caribbean tourism to bring a benefit to the city.
CHALLENGE:
The hardest part of the design was to incorporate the elements of the Caribbean with the primordial function of the building to create an iconic and functional element.
