Logements Lez in Art dans la ZAC Rive Gauche à Montpellier – Housing

The project takes place at the heart of the “Rive Gauche” ZAC presenting specific wishes in terms of sustainable development. Simple and compact in shape, it is through the thickening of the facades that materiality is offered to the built structure.

Composed of three entities, a base, a body and an attic, each one expresses a relation to its specific environment. The base, massive and protective, consists of housing with private external extensions.

The body seeks to offer specified external dilations thanks to the treatment of the different terraces stretching like shooting lines towards the landscape.

Connected vertically to each other by twisted blades, they constitute an environmental skin combining thermal qualities with architectural qualities by a play of light vibration and thickening thanks to the shadows created. Finally, the attic sequences the distant landscape with plays on volumes.

The unit is preserved by the implementation of a materiality and variations of identical colors. The project meets environmental commitments both by a rigor of construction, a necessary compactness, but above all by the installation of architectural devices offering a quality of life thanks to a quality of space. He was designated jury’s favorite project during the Arcades signature ceremony.

On January 20, 2017, the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Montpellier hosted three discussion panels during a scientific seminar organized the day before the Métropoles du Sud symposium.

This event was organized as part of the Erasmus + research program entitled KA-AU. Each of the panels invited architects, partners, researchers, teachers and students of architecture to express themselves.
