Palm Springs real estate exterior:
Martini House was a traditional modern home built in 1960 and poorly updated in the 80’s. Mirrored walls abounded. Bad textured wall paper, ugly fixtures, built in shelves, etc.
I began by stripping down the house to it’s essentials, which also happened to mean removing the wall between dining room and kitchen.
This allowed a more breatheable space, open concept, between entry all the way through the living areas.
The kitchen was no longer a box but a beautiful open space, where we updated the floor plan added seating at the counter and put in Green Apple Martini countertops.
Throughout the house, the artwork reflects the swinging 1960s in Film. Many authentic movie cards and posters were used to punctuate the decor and “party” feel to the house.
The “breathless” tv room is a modern version of a houkah lounge, with low furniture, a fire pit, surround sound tv, and a cool vibe. Three sides are glass.
Outdoors, I designed a slump stone bbq area, bar and firepit to get people moving throughout the backyard. I enhanced a dull area with a turquoise blue cabana to shade the guests while dining al fresco.
Cool furniture from Room+Board helped with the pops of color baby blue and orange.
