Sarvesh Health City, India
Located off Sirsa Road, Sarvesh Health City is a new 300-bed hospital spread over 32,500 sq ft in Hisar, Haryana. The multi-specialty hospital is part of a growing network of private healthcare facilities in the city, strategically positioned near vital transportation nodes to serve patients from nearby towns and surrounding areas. Within Hisar, Sarvesh Health City is also well-situated, benefiting residents in premium and midscale neighborhoods through its central location.
Designed as a healthcare facility offering a wide range of specialties, the hospital’s layout fosters visual connectivity across departments. Patients and caregivers enter through a calm, uncluttered double-height atrium, which provides a covered entry to an open courtyard beyond. This central courtyard allows visual connections across outpatient departments, emergency rooms, and other ground-floor amenities like the pharmacy and cafeteria. The two floors above house outpatient departments, dialysis and physiotherapy centers, operation rooms, and other intensive care units. The hospital’s programmatic design places labs, especially those with radio-active equipment, safely in the basement. The final two of the six stories host inpatient rooms on the building’s exterior, optimizing natural light.
On the facade, two stair cores positioned at each side subtly highlight the central entrance. One stair set introduces asymmetry, distinguishing the inpatient unit on the top floor. The interplay of symmetry and contrast is enhanced with vertical line motifs that lighten the facade, reinforcing the transition between lower and upper floors and linking the exterior design to the clutter-free interiors.
In two-tier cities, hospitals thrive when designed to support extended patient-caregiver relationships, as caregivers often travel with patients to reach high-quality facilities. Sarvesh Health City addresses this need by incorporating ample waiting areas, strategically placed to give caregivers comfortable spaces to provide support and reassurance.
The project incorporates CDA’s commitment to an evidence-based design approach, creating a healing environment through biophilic elements, from central greenery to naturally lit inpatient rooms. Aesthetic artwork reinforces the calming effect, with courtyard views wherever possible. Solar panels offset at least 25% of the hospital’s energy use, while a solar-passive N-S axis orientation reduces heat gains.
Overall, the design blends pragmatic and functional requirements, creating a high-quality, clutter-free infrastructure that is accessible to all—a modern response to the healthcare needs of a developing urban ecosystem.
