Broadway Malyan creates masterplans for Anglo Indian’s cricket-based communities in India

International architecture, urbanism and design practice Broadway Malyan has delivered masterplans for the creation of new communities built around cricket grounds, for client Anglo Indian, a leading real estate development and investment company, which is acquiring land and instigating development strategies in tier one and two cities in India.

Cricket-Based Communities India

Director of Masterplanning Monika Bik said: “The masterplans bring Anglo Indian’s unique concepts for cricket-oriented communities to life through aspirational artist’s impressions, are based on statistical analysis and best practice, and will enable Anglo Indian to take its vision to leading investment partners, institutional funds and developers, to acquire land and instigate development strategies.

“Successful delivery has involved close partnering with the client and depended on the skills, expertise and experience of our international masterplanning team, and we aim to support the delivery of the future projects through our global network, and in particular our London and Mumbai-based teams of expert planners, architects and designers.”

The project follows an historical brand licence agreement, signed between MCC Overseas Limited (MCCO), a newly incorporated subsidiary of Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), and Anglo Indian, with MCCO licensing Anglo Indian the right to use some of MCC’s marks in India in connection with a range of cricket-themed facilities – each branded and inspired by MCC and Lord’s – to be built in up to twelve new communities with residential sites.

The new communities will be developed and operated by Anglo Indian, in up to twelve locations from Delhi in the north to Bangalore in the south of India. All will follow similar lines with a MCC branded cricket academy and ground, together with an MCC Lord’s branded members’ club.

Simon Reid, Chairman of Anglo Indian, said: “Anglo Indian is actively negotiating agreements with developers and landowners in multiple locations across India. The development schedule will vary according to the scale of individual projects, but will generally take two to three years from commencement to completion, starting with the building of the MCC Cricket Academy, the Club and associated retail and hospitality facilities, around which a full range of housing will be planned.”
