Freedom Museum Groesbeek
The Freedom Museum in Groesbeek the Netherlands has been awarded the prestigious Architecture MasterPrize for 2022. The museum is housed in a Shaded Dome, an innovation of Shaded Dome Technologies, a company founded by architectural studio ZJA, Royal HaskoningDHV and Polyned.

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has announced the winners of the RIBA Awards for International Excellence and the 2018 RIBA International Emerging Architect, including this new 7,000m² museum for contemporary art, sitting within the grounds of an early twentieth century, ‘Dutch Arts & Crafts’ countryhouse.

Museum De Lakenhal
The project involves the restoration and extension of the original 1640 building and reintegrating it with the other periods of the museum’s development. A new extension will also be built to the north of the site with a new frontage facing the Lammermarkt public square. The contract value is €12 million and the work is due to be completed in April 2017 – in time to mark the 100th anniversary of the De Stijl art movement, founded in 1917 by Theo van Doesburg, a Leiden resident.

a spectacular new building that opened in 2012, extending the original building in a very flamboyant way. The new levitated superstructure contains exhibition space, a restaurant, a shop and the new entrance. Arup is responsible for the structural design and the lighting design. Designed by Benthem Crouwel Architects, the new building, popularly called the Bath Tub, adds over 9,000m2 to this historic Dutch museum building.

In the design of the re-opened Drents Museum, the existing Koetshuis has been given a new function as the Museum’s main entrance. The staff building is put on a glass plinth. In addition, underground spaces have been added, connecting the old and the new part.

Museum for Realistic Art
Hans Melchers, new owner of the Dutch paintings from the DS Art collection, commissioned Amsterdam based Hans van Heeswijk Architects to design the new museum for realistic art. The museum is located in the heart of Gorssel in the east of the Netherlands. Construction will start in the spring of 2013 and the museum is expected to open in the spring of 2015.

Veenhuizen can be typified as a classicistic master plan in which city planning and architecture form a Gesamtkunstwerk. Where in a “normal” village the market place defines the centre, in Veenhuizen one finds an enormous prison court.
