New Nordic School by the Sea, Helsinki
The headquarters of mobile game developer, Supercell, is located in the new and unique Wood City, a massive wooden structure by built by Anttinen Oiva Architects at the entrance of Helsinki’s Jätkäsaari neighborhood. Fyra was selected by Supercell Oy to design a kindergarten for the same building.

Solo Sokos Hotel Torni
Since its establishment in 1931, the thirteen floors of Hotel Torni have made the building a prominent landmark of the city of Helsinki. In 2018, the hotel underwent a comprehensive renovation, with Fyra being responsible for the interior design of the restaurant, the bars, and the reception area.

Ruohonjuuri Helsinki city center flagship store
Ruohonjuuri’s new flagship store in Helsinki city center is a pioneer project by Finnish Design Office Amerikka for building renovation and modernisation. Founded by group of local environmentally-aware young people in 1982, Ruohonjuuri is the biggest Finnish green retailer specialising in organic food, natural cosmetics and health products.

House J is situated on top of a high hill, on the edge of a single-family housing area. The architectural concept is based on the site: the building has a closed rear towards the North and East where the neighboring houses are, and it opens to the South and West, towards a natural forest.

Helsinki: A Hot Hearth In A Cool City
A series of islands with the dual function of storing thermal energy storage and serving as a hub for recreational activities – has won the Helsinki Energy Challenge, which aims to decarbonize the heating system of the Finnish capital by 2030. The project was developed by CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati in collaboration with Ramboll, Transsolar, Danfoss Leanheat®, Schneider Electric, OP Financial Group, schlaich bergermann partner and Squint/Opera.

Snøhetta’s design proposal, Hilbert’s Hotel, was announced as the winning entry during a press conference in Helsinki on February 1, following a competition arranged last year by AB invest A/S, the City of Helsinki, and the Finnish Association of Architect.

Sauna bathing is an essential part of Finnish culture and national identity. There are only 5,4 million Finns but 3,3 million saunas. Public saunas used to be common in bigger cities but now that most new apartments have sauna of their own, public saunas have decreased dramatically in number.
