St Tropez architects
Philippe Starck – Lily of the Valley
Lily of the Valley property by world-famous French designer Philippe Starck:
Paris born Phillippe Starck is a French industrial St Tropez architect known for creating designs that harbour a responsibility for society and the environment. He is renowned for designing across the spectrum, from superyachts to chandeliers, furniture, and even a futuristic winter gondola in Venice, Italy. However, it is his hotels that have predominantly gained cult status, including the renowned Lily of the Valley in La Croix Valmer, 15 min drive away from St Tropez.
According to the architect, Starck’s enchanting Lily of the Valley hotel in the hills overlooking Gigaro Beach is inspired by the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and villas of California. The wellness village offers tranquillity in every aspect of its natural setting. Lush foliage surrounds the houses, consisting of 38 rooms and six suites.
Among his famous hotel designs — in addition to Lily of the Valley— are Saint Martin’s Lane in London (described as a “surrealist wonderland”), and La Réserve Eden au Lac Zurich (“an imaginary yacht club”), among numerous others.
But it is the five-star Lily of the Valley with a focus on wellness, sport, and health that draws many visitors to Saint-Tropez.
John Pawson – Villa Pureart
A renowned British architect, Pawson brings his minimalist aesthetic to the stunning and spacious Villa Pureart in Les Parcs de Saint-Tropez, a luxury gated community with a limited number of villas situated between the Bay of Canoubiers and the Mediterranean Sea.
Villa Pureart is actually two residences — a main villa with five ensuite bedrooms, a library, home cinema, swimming pool, and vineyard — and a guest villa with four ensuite bedrooms, two fireplaces, a gym, and a pool.
These ultra-luxurious villas, offered for rent throughout the high season and beyond, feature Pawson’s inspired amenities throughout.
Another eclectic designer, Pawson, is known not only for his award-winning St Tropez architectural achievements, but also for his home goods collections, photography, and his “Home Farm Cooking” book.
François Vieillecroze – Villa Bellazard and Villa Agape
Known for many St Tropez build projects, Vieillecroze’s superb properties include the stately Villa Bellazard in a private, secure residence and the elegant Villa Agape in Les Parcs.
The two-storey Bellazard villa features five luxurious bedroom suites on the ground floor and amenities that include a wine cellar and a private library. The first floor has a 540-metre master suite, a covered terrace, and an outdoor dining room overlooking a heated pool.
Striking dual staircases join the two floors of the villa, including a hammam and a massage room.
Another extraordinary rental, the Agape, is centred around a heated swimming pool and is just a short distance from the beach. The inviting, open interior combines opulence and comfort. There are five bedrooms and a cinema room, as well as a pergola and a pétanque court.
Villecroze, a Saint-Tropez “fixture”, is well known for preserving the integrity and the environment of the peninsula.
Vincent Coste – Tropicana Beach Club
Coste, who opened his St Tropez architect agency in 2000, has designed many of its private villas, as well as the open and airy Tropicana Beach Club.
Situated along popular Pampelonne Beach, near the Cap Camarat lighthouse, the Tropicana’s stylish exterior blends natural, light wood with white fabric in a host of simple yet elegant tables and lounge furniture overlooking the sea.
His grand villas in Saint-Tropez feature his signature clean, crisp lines perfectly framing seaside settings, infinity pools, and broad terraces. One has an exterior spiral stairway connecting two floors; another is enhanced by artfully designed post-modern furniture and spacious outdoor living spaces surrounded by sculpted trees.
Treat yourself to a holiday stay unlike any other: Reserve an exceptional villa designed by one of Saint-Tropez’s top architects.
