A unique building which opened in 2009 at the University of Sunderland is destined to set new standards in campus amenities combining social, sports and events facilities in one single venue.
This £12 million project, completed in September 2009, is the centrepiece of a masterplan to regenerate the City Campus. Designed to BREEAM ‘Excellent’ standard the centre provides a dining area for 100, cafe, multi-purpose space, six court sports hall, 70 station fitness area and a flexible cultural events space called ‘Citystudio’.
A modern and distinctive concrete and glass panel façade designed by FaulknerBrowns Architects envelops the new facility which signposts the knowledge campus at the gateway to the City.
