BIG Museum for Paper Art
Bjarke Ingels Group is set to transform a former supermarket building into the new Museum for Paper Art in the North Jutland region of Denmark. With paper art deeply rooted in the Danish cultural heritage, including the iconic folded lampshades by Le Klint and H.C. Andersen’s paper clips, the conversion and extension of the building intends to double the museum’s annual number of visitors as well as embrace paper as an art form and expertise.

REGAN Vest, Danish Cold War Museum
The Cold War bunker REGAN Vest was kept a state secret for many decades. Now the bunker opens to the public, thanks to realization of new Danish Cold War Museum. The construction comprises four black boxes hidden deep inside Rold Skov in Northern Jutland, inspired by the decades-long mystery surrounding Denmark’s most secret bunker nestled 60 metres underground.

In recent years, there has been a tendency in Denmark, to concentrate daycare facilities in fewer and larger daycare centers. This is obviously done to be mor efficient, but also to be able to offer a wider range of facilities, that a normal sized daycare center wouldn’t be able to support on its own.

The Lantern Maritime Center, Esbjerg
In the seaport town Esbjerg on the Danish west coast, a new Maritime Center has opened to the public. Developed by WERK Arkitekter and Snøhetta, following a design competition in 2019, the center is created as a shared space for watersport clubs and visitors along the port, providing the town with a social maritime hub and architectural landmark.

The Triple Folly – a still life assembled on a hillock overlooking the sea – is three buildings and, at the same time, one building.

Located at the site of Denmark’s largest Refugee camp from World War II, Flugt, gives a voice and a face to refugees worldwide and captures the universal challenges, emotions, spirit and stories shared by displaced humans. FLUGT is BIG’s second museum for Vardemuseerne: a local institution dedicated to archaeology, dissemination, and collection of historical knowledge about the region.

The school has, with the new extension, finished in the autumn of 2017, doubled in size and has become a modern, school building, with a diverse variety of learning spaces.

The climate adaption project in Vorup near Randers resolves the city’s current and future climate challenges by converting the adjacent nature area, Storkeengen (Stork Meadow), into a public nature park. With the integration of climate resilience strategies, the nature park also brings the unique natural delta along the Gudenå (the longest river in Denmark) closer to the centre of Randers, and to its residents.
