For the fluid design inspired by the scenic region’s fishing heritage, Oasis Mall in Sanya, PRC won “5 Star Award, Best Retail Architecture for China” and subsequently “Best Retail Architecture for Asia Pacific”. The iconic shopping and lifestyle destination with a low carbon environmental design responds to the natural setting of the scenic location, giving rise to a unique leisure experience.

The two projects will later represent the Asia Pacific region to contend for the International Property Awards to be held in London in November this year.

Winning the “5 Star Award, Best Office Architecture for Hong Kong” is 18 Kowloon East, a mixed use building in the traditionally industrial area of Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong, given a twist to the typology with an out of the box green feature design at the podium level.

Also recognised are City University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) Research Institute Building, Sanya Residential Development and Crowne Plaza Hotel in Huizhou.

Named “Highly Commended, Public Service Architecture for China”, City University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) Research Institute Building is a research facility located in the university village in Shenzhen, PRC, a context that requires the unique identity to also blend in with the existing developments.

The low rise sinuous complex of Sanya Residential Development was given “Highly Commended, Architecture Multiple Residence for China”, a design that utilises the contrasting interplay of weight and lightness in the pursuit of harmony with the surrounding green hills. Crowne Plaza Hotel in Huizhou, PRC, was named “Highly Commended, Hotel Architecture for China”, with its flowing design that allows for a playful weave between the building and the surrounding open space.

The awards form part of the International Property Awards, one of the world’s most prestigious property competition established 18 years ago.
