The Corlette House has been thoughtfully designed to sit comfortably within its coastal context, located in the popular holiday destination of Port Stephens.
While the setting is relaxed and scenic, the intent of the project was very clear — to transform what was once a family holiday house into a permanent, forever home that could continue to welcome extended family during holiday periods.
The design responds to this dual purpose by balancing everyday liveability with generous spaces for entertaining and hosting. A relaxed coastal mood underpins the architecture, with a strong emphasis on indoor–outdoor living.
Living areas flow seamlessly to external terraces and outdoor spaces, creating an effortless connection between the home and its waterfront setting.
Orientation and planning were key drivers of the design. The house has been carefully arranged to maximise natural light, cross-ventilation and uninterrupted views across the Bay, ensuring the outlook remains a constant presence throughout the home.
Each zone across the site has been carefully considered, resulting in a layout that feels open and expansive while still offering privacy and retreat when required.
Internally, light and airy finishes reinforce the coastal atmosphere, while multiple living and sleeping zones allow the home to comfortably adapt to both quiet everyday living and larger family gatherings.
Material selection plays an important role, with a warm and refined palette of stone, weatherboard and timber complemented by soft, light-toned finishes.
The architectural style is a contemporary interpretation of Hamptons and modern coastal architecture, delivering a home that is timeless, welcoming and deeply connected to its location — an ideal expression of relaxed coastal living designed for longevity.
