TYIN tegnestue architects have exhibited plans and prototypes made of Kebony for their latest design at this year’s Venice Biennale, which was held in May.

The project, Molofunctional, will improve the facilities for travellers visiting Scandinavia and local inhabitants alike, with additional meeting places, a bathroom and new viewpoints, all placed on a beautiful breakwater on Norway’s northern coastline. The TYIN team were the only team from Scandinavia at the event and were chosen from 176 participants in a competition held by the National Tourist Routes, with building of the scheme due to commence this year.

The Norwegian composer and musician, Håvard Lund has embarked upon an innovative project to create an artist’s retreat on Northern Norway’s beautiful and dramatic coastline. The retreat is named Fordypningsrommet, the Norwegian word for ‘room for deeper studies’, as Lund aims at inspiring artists to return to nature and deepen their creative pursuits.

The Chicago Athenaeum and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies announce that two young Norwegian architects, Andreas G. Gjertsen and Yashar Hanstad, principals of the architecture cooperative, TYIN tegnestue Architects in Trondheim, Norway, have been named as this year’s winners of The European Prize for Architecture for their humanitarian work designing and building with community participation in poor and underdeveloped areas in Africa and Asia.
