Matteo Thun. The Index Book acts not as a classic monograph, but as a kind of ‘X-Ray’: It explores and analyzes the layers and deepest strata of this Milan architecture studio’s world in an unconventional way and with an evocative use of images.

This book provides an understanding of this Milan architectural studio through the various works that comprise his oeuvre, “from the spoon to the city” – from coffee cups to the restaurants, from mountain resorts to wristwatches, from saucepans to solitary villas. It also means exploring his manifold expressive media – masterplans and energy systems, watercolors and drawings, photographs and sketches – as well as key themes in his work, such as ecology and the environment, economics and aesthetics, and energy saving and contemporary luxury.

Sustainability is a leitmotif of the Milan architect’s oeuvre. And underpinning all of this is the architect’s holistic approach to his work.
