Regeneration expert Ballymore and Transport for London (TfL)’s commercial property company, TTL Properties Ltd (TTLP) have formally committed to combine their landholdings in Edgware. Working with the London Borough of Barnet, they will deliver their shared vision of a reimagined town centre with a thriving high street on Station Road open to all.

Alumno has been given the green light to develop purpose-built managed student accommodation on Dogpool Lane in Birmingham. Planning permission has been granted by the local council for the £24 million project, which will redevelop a currently underused former BT brownfield site within the established Stirchley community.

Assay Studios is one of eleven buildings shortlisted for Royal Institute of British Architects West Midlands Awards 2018.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Tom’s Kitchen, The Mailbox, Birmingham on Tuesday 22 May.

“Intuitive” apartments with moving surfaces and foldaway furniture will feature in the first residential development from the team behind Yo! Sushi and Yotel, which is currently awaiting planning permission, reports www.ukconstructionweek.com.

YO! Company founder Simon Woodroffe has teamed up with British firm Glenn Howells Architects on the first Yo! Home project, which aims to provide compact but high-quality accommodation for city dwellers.

The team submitted a planning application last month for 24 apartments in New Islington – a development in Manchester, England, that is overseen by property developer Urban Splash.

Woodroffe first unveiled the concept for Yo! Home at the London Design Festival in 2012, where he presented a space no bigger than a one-bedroom apartment that contained as many rooms as a two-bedroom house.

The Staffordshire arboretum put forward the proposals to Lichfield District Council after a public consultation. The scheme includes building a pavilion for special events and a Remembrance and Learning Centre for visitors and it is hoped it will by built in two years. Funding is around the half way mark for the building.
