The architectural design is partly inspired in the approach of the chefs Mikel Alonso and Bruno Oteiza (disciples of Jean Marie Arzak) through the tasting of dishes and wines where the traditional flavours of the Basque cuisine and its evolution create a new concept of clear duality.

The Project is located in a set of houses built in the forties, in a block of the Polanco neighbourhood in Mexico City. The block has been subjected through the years to an endless number of constant and repeated alterations, not only in its architecture but also in its purpose (from residential to commercial). Nowadays very little remains of what was originally a well structured block, with a formal and well defined clarity.

México Architecture Practice Information
Entasis Arquitectos are based in Colonia Condesa, México D.F.
Entasis is the Greek word for tension
Entasis Arquitectos is a Mexico City–based architectural studio recognized for its refined approach to interior architecture, hospitality design, and adaptive reuse projects.
Overview:
This architecture practice is based in Mexico City, particularly in the Colonia Condesa district, and was founded by Alejandro de la Vega Zulueta and Ricardo Warman.
Entasis has built a strong reputation for high-end restaurant and interior projects, as well as cultural and office spaces, combining precision, warmth, and material richness in their designs.
Design Approach:
Focus on material contrast (light vs. dark, heavy vs. light)
Careful orchestration of light, texture, and spatial sequence
Integration of architecture with user experience, especially in hospitality settings
Sensitivity to existing structures, particularly in adaptive reuse projects
Their work often creates environments where architecture acts as a subtle backdrop, allowing activities—like dining or cultural engagement—to take center stage.
Notable Projects:
– BIKO Restaurant (2008) – A widely acclaimed project exploring duality through contrasting materials and spatial composition.
– OCA Restaurant (2009) – Transformation of a fragmented house into a fluid dining space with integrated greenery.
– MIDE (Museo Interactivo de Economía) interventions – Adaptive reuse within a historic convent structure.
– Corporate Offices at Reforma Capital Building – Contemporary workplace interiors emphasizing material clarity.

The exposed concrete canopy emphasizes views and deals with an anachronistic local code on context which calls for typical-construction looking elements and materials such as pitched roofs with Spanish tile simply by flipping it. In this way, views and orientation of the house towards south makes sense blocking sun on summer not on winter.
