Courtyard Residence
The site for the Urban Courtyard Residence is located within a late 1950’s era neighborhood in northern Phoenix consisting of relatively small lots (50’ x 125’). The enclave is nestled within the North Phoenix Mountain Preserve just a few city blocks to the north of the site.
This Phoenix house project site offers limited exterior view potential at the ground level due to the proximity of the adjacent residential development but opportunities exist to the north and south of the site if lofted. This Arizona house is therefore characterized by its relationship with the exterior environments with four primary engagements.

Suncover Residence
In this suburban location in Scottsdale, Arizona the site for the Suncover Residence has a generous proportion and is located immediately adjacent to a manicured golf course fairway green. The clients, a building contractor and his family, found this location to be an ideal integration of a desert site and the green surroundings reminiscent of their native England.

Matthew G Trzebiatowski, AIA, LEED ap (Born Wisconsin, 1972) earned a Masters’ Degree in Architecture from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee School of Architecture and Urban Planning (SARUP) in 1997. Trzebiatowski is a registered architect in Arizona and Wisconsin and is presently a Professor of Architecture, faculty chair, and architectural practice studio director at the School of Architecture at Taliesin and is an Assistant Lecturer at The University of Arizona.
To galvanize his commitment to environmental responsibility, Trzebiatowski is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional. Trzebiatowski established blank studio design + architecture in 2006 and has won numerous awards for the design work of his studio.
This Phoenix architects practice was created to honor the capacity for architecture to challenge, inspire and elevate design awareness in an environment that is directed toward increasingly simplistic and synthetic solutions. The design process centers upon investigation and synthesis, the experiential use of space, an authentic expression of materiality, and the engagement of the senses.
