The project, developed by TMG Partners and endorsed by Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf as a key element of Uptown Oakland’s development, provides 875,000-sqft of next generation office space with large floorplates, high ceilings, the latest technology, and best-in-class building amenities. SCB is both the architect and interior designer for the project.

The architects took full advantage of high ceilings and abundant natural light in the century-old, brick-and-timber building at 2301 Broadway. The open kitchen and its wood clad hearth showcase the handwork of creating fresh dosa. Vibrant colors and unconventional textures were selected to complement the dynamic food.

Located at 2201 Valley Street in the Uptown neighborhood, the building encompasses a full city block, replacing an existing parking lot and gas station with a 420-foot-tall office tower with parking, retail, flexible arts space, café, and green terraces and roof garden.

Set on a prominent, two-block site overlooking Oakland’s Lake Merritt, the 1350-seat cathedral is the centerpiece of a 226,000-square-foot complex that includes a mausoleum, conference center, administrative offices, bishop’s and clergy residences, bookstore, café, and community-serving ministries.
