The owners of Boomerang House, a lakefront home envisioned a place for creating art and connecting with family, friends and nature. In response, DA designed a boomerang-shaped plan that nestles into the hillside while framing views of Mt. Rainier and Lake Washington.
Large multi-panel sliding doors open the main living spaces to a sunny patio that spans the width of the house.
Careful detailing helps blur the line between house and landscape and encourages an easy flow from inside to out.
A Family Room anchors one end of the home, while a multi-purpose Studio anchors the other. Moving between these two “magnetic poles” encourages interaction among family and friends.
The bend in the floor plan orients key spaces toward Mt. Rainier and forms a sense of place and shelter on the water side of the house.
