Hamburg, January 23, 2013 – The elevators currently the fastest in the world were manufactured by the Japanese corporation Toshiba.

This building in Ikebukuro was the tallest in Asia at the time of completion. It held the title until 1985 when it was overtaken by the 63 Building in Seoul, South Korea.
The tower was also the tallest building in Tokyo and Japan until the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building was completed in 1991.
The Ikebukuro building has 40 elevators. One of them takes visitors with a top speed of 36 km/h from the lobby to the observation deck on the 60th floor.
When the weather is fine, visitors to the observation deck can see as far as 100 km.
