Located on the top of a hill in Moraira, this single-family house opens fully to the south, embracing the sea. From its privileged position, the project is conceived as a composition of horizontal planes that extend toward the horizon, engaging in a continuous dialogue with light and landscape.
Composition and relationship with the terrain
The design adapts to the natural topography, using the slope to free the views from every living space. The main volume rises from a stone base that anchors the house to the ground, while the upper levels slide and cantilever lightly, generating depth through shadows and overhangs.
This system of stepped platforms ensures a natural transition between the different levels of the plot, minimizing visual impact and enhancing integration into the site.
Structure, proportion and rhythm
Long spans and generous cantilevers emphasize the sense of lightness and continuity. The concealed steel structure, integrated between concrete slabs and smooth white finishes, allows the corners to open completely, maintaining uninterrupted transparency.
The alternation of vertical wooden panels, glazed modules and solid planes introduces a precise rhythm that balances openness and privacy.
Materiality and textures
The dialogue between materials is based on balance and honesty: natural dry-stone walls connect the architecture to the land and provide thermal mass, while vertical wooden slats filter light and add warmth to the composition. The white rendered surfaces enhance the purity of the geometry and reflect the Mediterranean light throughout the day.
The material palette is neutral and timeless, allowing texture and shadow to define the atmosphere of the house.
Water as an extension of the landscape
The swimming pool is conceived as an architectural element — fragmented into several planes that slice through the terrain and visually merge with the sea. The water surface acts as a mirror, multiplying reflections and blurring the limits between architecture and landscape. Seen from the interior, the pool becomes a continuation of the horizon itself.
Spatial organization
The main level hosts the living, dining, and kitchen areas — an open, continuous space directly connected to the exterior through large sliding glass panels that vanish when opened. The upper floor accommodates the bedrooms, each with private terraces overlooking the sea.
The access, contained and protected, contrasts with the full openness to the south, reinforcing the spatial progression from intimacy to infinity.
A home to look at and inhabit the sea
Geometric precision, structural lightness, and material purity define the essence of the project.
The result is a serene architecture, suspended between sky and water, where the horizon becomes the true axis of life.
