Benoy, the international, award-winning firm of Architects, Masterplanners, Interior and Graphic Designers, is delighted to announce the opening of Centrum Černý Most.
Located to the east of Prague, Centrum Černý Most, was launched to great applause; the VIP party saw performances from the Prague Symphonic Orchestra FOK and the celebrations were attended by over 5,000 people.
Centrum Černý Most, or CČM as it is known, was the first regional shopping centre in the Czech Republic and since its original opening in 1997, it has continued to be a top retail address. Because of its popularity amongst the residents of Prague – and the city’s catchment area of approximately 1,200,000 people – the decision was taken to enhance the existing shopping mall to create a more diverse retail offering; more fitting for today’s more discerning customer. During its first weekend of trading, CČM welcomed 150,000 visitors.
With a floor space of 82,000m2, 160 shops and nine cinema screens, CČM has evolved to become a true destination. Improving the customer experience was fundamental to the client’s exacting brief and Benoy’s design response included the introduction of areas dedicated to children and landscaped gardens complete the attractive, family-friendly atmosphere. Organic forms and a fresh colour palette complement the exciting retail and leisure offer.
The logo, designed by Benoy’s own Graphic Design Team, is the focal point of a complete corporate identity, signage and wayfinding package. Drawing on the citrus colours of the interior design, it sets the scene for the vibrant experience within the mall.
The scheme has met the rigorous green design standards and is now a leading example of environmentally responsible retail development in the Czech Republic. Within the Retail category, CČM is the first building certified BREEAM ‘Very good’ in Prague.
Robert Bishop, Director at Benoy, concluded:
“Centrum Černý Most was an exceptional project for Benoy. Working alongside the client, Unibail-Rodamco, the team had responsibility for overall project design including the exterior elevation, interior design, logo, signage and wayfinding, even the tenant shop fronts. Together, we were able to take a truly holistic approach to the creative process.”
“We are incredibly proud of CČM and we were honoured and delighted to be working with Unibail-Rodamco and ultimately be part of such a significant project for Prague and indeed the Czech Republic.”
