We’ve selected what we feel are the key examples of Nightclub Architecture. We aim to include buildings that are either of top quality or interesting, or ideally both.
We cover completed buildings, new interior designs, architectural exhibitions and architecture competitions across the world. The focus is on contemporary Nightclubs but information on traditional club buildings is also welcome.

Albertina Passage, Vienna, Austria
Design: Söhne & Partner Architekten

Albertina Passage Club
The main challenge in this project was to recreate an abandoned pedestrian underpass at the very center of Vienna into a modern dinner club for up to 300 persons. The target was to design a club that is suitable for an elegant dinner as well as for a big party night. Hence, the design includes live music, a restaurant and a lounge.

The Hacienda – Fac 51, Whitworth Street, Manchester, England

Design: Ben Kelly Architects

Hacienda Manchester : iconic nightclub design by legendary Ben Kelly
This Manchester club was the joint in the late 1980s but fizzled out in the early 1990s damaged by a reputation for violence. The Haç was a very cool place (though I preferred the PSV club in Hulme and the Ritz nightclub further along Whitworth Street) back in the Madchester days from 1987 to 1992 with clubbers travelling from not only England but Europe too.

M.N.ROY Club
Private club in Mexico City
We kept the house as a testimony of what it was, the house where Manabendra Nath Roy founded the first clandestine Mexican communist party.
Warwick Students Union, Midlands, central England, UK
Design: MJP

Warwick Students Union
The original building was designed as a multi- purpose administrative building whose brief was changed to a Students’ Union whilst under construction. Since then it had become even less suitable for today’s requirements, having neither the flexibility nor the environmental performance to accommodate the range of activities expected of a modern Students’ Union building.
