Baccarat Store
A leading international luxury brand must be up-to-date with the current trends. From the day it was created, Baccarat expanded its infl uence all overthe world, thanks to important prestigious commissions. In 1948, Baccarat established a US subsidiary in New York, followed in 1984 by a Japanese subsidiary based in Tokyo.
In 1992, Baccarat was bought by Société du Louvre, an opportunity for the brand to fi nd new prospects of development in the luxury segment. Firmly rooted, thanks to its exceptional heritage of expertise and perfection, Baccarat’s creativeness is fl ourishing, exploring new fi elds of design.
In 1993, the brand launched into fashion and created a line of jewels followed by a collection of accessories and wristwatches. This new orientation soon became one of its greatest successes. In 2005, Starwood Group purchased the Société du Louvre making Barry Sternlicht, President of Starwood Group, the President of Baccarat.
The creations of famous artists inspired by the magic of crystal such as Georges Chevalier, Van day Truex, Salvador Dali, Roberto Sambonet, Andrée Putman, Ettore Sottsass, William Sawaya, Philippe Starck, Kenzo Takada, and Arik Levy are the cornerstones which helped build the Art-de-Vivre collections. Three thousand permanent references and two new collections a year in the jewels and home-decoration categories are displayed in its channel of proprietary boutiques and points of sale worldwide.
Baccarat is perpetuating the image of a cosmopolitan lifestyle in the great French tradition. In January 2008, Baccarat will open its second House in a place full of history: 19-21 Nikolskaya street.
The ground floor plays host to the Home, Decoration, Jewels and Accessories boutique in which the full range of the Baccarat collections from lighting pieces to watches are on display. In a setting lustrous, Philippe Starck once again accented the contrast on the Baccarat-designed sophisticated furniture: imposing mirror and crystal display windows, and a giant lit table with a crystal base, accommodating the entire range of the Home Decoration collections.
The collection of lighting pieces is placed into perspective. The boutique’s furniture, the table and chairs fitted with a crystal base, are Starck’s creations and available on order. On the gallery-museum’s floor, a mini-concept store presents a selection of “impulse-buy” Baccarat products to purchase without reservation as the tangible evidence of a visit to this exceptional place.
THE CRISTAL ROOM BACCARAT
Located in the heart of this magnifi cent mansion, on the second floor, the Cristal Room Baccarat is a true living space. Philippe Starck has preserved its original chic and elegance, while lending it the required touch of modernity and daring.
The Cristal Room Baccarat serves lunch and dinner, welcoming those who appreciate fine French cuisine inspired by Russian flavors. The furnishings are also by Starck for Baccarat. Baccarat has assigned the operation of its Cristal Room to David Desseaux and David Hemmerlé, part of the new generation of Moscow chefs. Working with a team of 20 employees, they offer a range of dishes, from the simplest to the most sophisticated.
David Desseaux’s menu emphasizes great French cuisine, with dishes that change monthly based on the season. It includes carefully chosen selections from French and European artisan producers. The subtle flavors give center stage to the quality and freshness of the ingredients.
Seafood and shellfi sh are delivered daily from France. Meat is spit roasted, according to Lyon tradition, a first here in Russia. Desserts are held to the same exacting standards. Subtle and creative, they include a unique selection of teas and herbal infusions.
Several exclusive recipes have been named after Baccarat’s most impressive creations. Nathalia Kurnosova offers a superb list of great vintage wines and champagnes, as well as a selection of the world’s grands crus, chosen to accompany the menu and served in Baccarat glasses.
