Palace of Culture and Communication (PALCCO) is a concept of multifunctional cultural space, unique in its kind, by bringing together in the same space the most diverse cultural expressions and the most advanced technology in telecommunications in its rooms and spaces. Public open spaces will cover an essential need in the cultural sphere of the city of Guadalajara, the only complex in the city with museum, gallery, cyberspace, congresses and exhibitions, open-air theater, music and dance schools, restaurants, bars, and parking roofed.
The “PALCCO” project designed on a land surface of 21,210m2 with 35,800 m2 of construction and 12,216 m2 projected for exterior areas, is made up of three clearly differentiated zones: The Access Plaza, Agora; the outdoor amphitheater at the rear of the project, and the main building.
Access square
Exterior esplanade of the complex with an extension of 5,500m2 that will house a distinctive telecommunications tower, with its 2-level basement parking for 624 vehicles.
Agora
It is accessed through the main square, taking advantage of the natural depression of the land between gardens and fountains; This enclosure is covered in its entirety by an acoustic Linaria that allows the spectator to enjoy all kinds of shows that take place in this area, it has a capacity for 3,350 spectators.
Main building
Due to its modernist concept, it has been structured with metal elements and covered with Alucobond based on metal panels, windows, and glass windows with thermo-acoustic insulation to achieve a venue that hosts the different events and shows with great quality. Inside there are different specific spaces such as:
• José Pablo Moncayo Auditorium: a modern theater complex with acoustic perfection, where all kinds of artistic shows can be seen in their structured splendor with acoustic treatment, it does not allow the passage of noise, vibrations, or any emission from the service areas. Offers: 534 seats with notepads, 6 private suites, 78 seats, Stage: 35 x 21 meters, Maximum distance: 35 meters, 250 interpreters on stage, 4 simultaneous translation booths. total capacity for: 1,918 spectators
• José Rolón music room: with a 60 m2 stage, simultaneous translation booth, high-definition projections, capacity for 373 spectators in seats plus 2 wheelchairs.
• Gallery of Fame: Pavilion dedicated to exalting artistic values in the fields of composition, interpretation and the career of Authors and performers from Jalisco, Mexico, and the world.
• Congress Palace: 9,500 m2 covered and 3,000 m2 outdoors with capacity for almost 400 stands and six VIP meeting rooms, with technological press room services.
• Radio and television museum and studios: it presents, in addition to artifacts and representative objects, the most important moments in the history of communications and the development of radio and television.
• Digital arts cyberspace: an area dedicated to offering resources for study, research and recreation with digitalized sound and video libraries and libraries in 620 m2 of interactive area.
• Art Walk: Permanent exhibitions, temporary exhibitions, and space for local, national, and international art.
In addition, within the amenities and services the PALCCO includes Schools of music, dance, restaurants, bars, exclusive stores, and Offices for the RATO-CIRT Jalisco.
