HOTEL ROYALTON RIVIERA CANCÚN
Zyman & Zyman finishes ahead of three US firms and one Mexican firm to win invitational competition to design the Hotel Royalton Riviera Cancun of the Blue Diamond Group.
This hotel will involve an estimated investment of US$190 million, a constructed area of 130,000 m2, and more than 1,250 rooms in ten towers with a maximum of four stories each. Building work will begin at the end of this year, and is expected to take 13 months.
The hotel project is designed to offer fun and relaxation for tourists looking for an all-inclusive resort. Its prime location in the Riviera Maya will give visitors the opportunity to enjoy the peaceful and beautiful natural setting, with a wide beach and natural coral reef, all within easy reach of entertainment centers.
The hotel complex buildings blend in harmoniously with the surroundings and local flora, with small-scale interventions such as bridges suspended over the vegetation, paths winding through nature, and water features. A strong emphasis is placed on the outdoor spaces and routes, and a very specific architectural program is designed to the most exacting standard.
Most of the activities and hotel rooms are located by the beach, again showing the design’s orientation toward the local terrain and the sea views.
As a luxury hotel catering for large numbers of families, the Hotel Royalton Riviera Cancun offers a variety of services and a high degree of comfort, and so the project includes spaces to meet these needs and to offer visitors a wide range of activities: a kids’ club, a luxury spa, exclusive restaurants, stores, hotel rooms, swimming pool, etc.
The project consists of a set of buildings, separated into four gardened areas, each of which share services and installations for optimum functionality, with a total of 1,226 hotel rooms and a constructed area of 132,460.82 m2.
The eleven towers with hotel rooms have a maximum of four stories each; one central building with three stories offers communal services; and another three-storey service tower contains the car park, machine room, cisterns, laundry facilities, human resources and administration offices.
In the central building visitors can find specialty restaurants, a conference room, a motor lobby with spectacular sea views across a spacious lobby where the reception and bar are also located; this same central building also has a large plaza that acts as a meeting point connecting to the hotel to restaurant zone. The entire hotel shares installations and services for enhanced operational efficiency.
