CUATTRO CASA DE CAFÉ

Cuattro Casa de Café, located in Troncones, Guerrero, is a project that brings together architecture, landscape, and sensory experience under a clear premise: to build from the context. Conceived as a café integrating a restaurant, bakery, artisan retail area, and a private office, the space is organized with precision and coherence to respond to the local climate, terrain, and daily life of the site.

The decision to preserve the existing vegetation defined the entire layout. The original trees were not only conserved but became key design drivers: one of them dictates the opening in the terrace slab, while the others create a central open-air corridor that separates the main volumes. This passage enables cross-ventilation, brings in natural light, and establishes a sequence of controlled views that enrich the spatial experience.

The material palette was selected with a functional and contextual approach. Given the region’s warm climate, the project uses exposed concrete for its thermal stability, endemic wood for its durability and harmony with the landscape, and gray gravel in permeable areas to respect the natural ground and allow rainwater to filter into the subsoil. This selection ensures efficient thermal performance and reduces dependence on mechanical systems, prioritizing passive comfort.

Inside, the proposal is complemented by locally crafted elements: clay luminaires, artisanal ceramics, wooden furniture, and Mexican-made objects that contribute identity without overpowering the space. The palette is measured, tactile, and consistent, reinforcing the intention to create fresh, bright environments with a clearly defined regional character.

The architectural program is clearly organized: a restaurant area open to the surrounding vegetation, a bakery visible to users, a shop dedicated to Mexican handcrafted products, and a private office. Each function integrates seamlessly into a composition that maintains visual and spatial continuity.

Just five minutes from the shoreline, Cuattro Casa de Café leverages the site’s environmental conditions to create an interior experience that is coherent, efficient, and respectful of its context. Its architecture stands out for its integration with the terrain, its thoughtful use of local materials, and a precise organization that responds to both the programmatic needs and the coastal climate. The result is a contemporary, understated, and well-grounded project where the relationship between nature, materiality, and habitability defines its character.

Cuattro Casa de Café, ubicado en Troncones, Guerrero, es un proyecto que articula arquitectura, paisaje y experiencia sensorial a partir de una premisa clara: construir desde el contexto. Concebido como una cafetería que integra restaurante, panadería, tienda de artesanías y una oficina privada, el espacio se organiza con precisión y coherencia para responder al clima, al terreno y a la vida cotidiana del lugar.

La decisión de preservar la vegetación existente definió por completo la implantación. Los árboles originales no solo se conservaron, sino que se convirtieron en estructuradores del diseño: uno de ellos determina la apertura de la losa en la terraza, y el resto da origen a un pasillo central al aire libre que separa los volúmenes principales. Este recorrido permite ventilación cruzada, aporta iluminación natural y genera una secuencia de vistas controladas que enriquecen la experiencia espacial.

La materialidad se seleccionó con un enfoque funcional y contextual. Ante el clima cálido de la región, el proyecto emplea concreto aparente por su estabilidad térmica, madera endémica por su resistencia y coherencia con el paisaje, y grava gris en áreas permeables que respetan el terreno natural y facilitan la infiltración del agua al subsuelo. Esta selección permite un comportamiento térmico eficiente y reduce la dependencia de sistemas mecánicos, privilegiando el confort pasivo.

En el interior, la propuesta se complementa con piezas de fabricación local: luminarias de barro, cerámica artesanal, mobiliario de madera y objetos mexicanos que aportan identidad sin sobresalir por encima del espacio. La paleta es medida, táctil y consistente, reforzando la intención de crear ambientes frescos, luminosos y con un carácter regional bien definido.

El programa arquitectónico se distribuye de manera clara: un área de restaurante abierta hacia la vegetación, una panadería visible al usuario, una tienda dedicada a productos artesanales mexicanos y una oficina privada. Cada función se integra en un conjunto que opera de forma fluida, manteniendo continuidad visual y espacial.

A cinco minutos caminando del mar, Cuattro Casa de Café aprovecha las condiciones ambientales del sitio para construir una experiencia interior coherente, eficiente y respetuosa con el contexto. Su arquitectura se distingue por la integración al terreno, el uso consciente de materiales locales y una organización precisa que responde a las necesidades del programa y al clima costero. El resultado es un proyecto contemporáneo, sobrio y bien fundamentado, donde la relación entre naturaleza, materialidad y habitabilidad define su carácter.
