Madrid is the capital of Spain. There is a wealth of architecture in the city, from the Caixa Forum to the Hotel Puerta America.

Major historic architecture includes the Prado Museum, Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum (Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza), Palacio de Aranjuez, Royal Palace of Madrid, Royal Theater and Real Basilica de San Francisco el Grande. These buildings are possible to visit on our Madrid Architecture Tours.

New Madrid Architecture : the key buildings

This fascinating museum and cultural center building design is located at Paseo del Prado 36, Madrid. The intriguing structure was designed by the world-famous Swiss architecture practice Herzog & de Meuron, from 2001 to 2007. The building combines an abandoned electrical station with new construction of floors. These are encased with oxidized cast-iron, which was meant to be of a similar colour and weight as the brick below.
