Apartments on Balme Hill
The 60 apartments, divided into block 7 and 8 are situated on Balme Hill in the district La Duchère in Lyon. The apartments are facing Boulevard Balmont on the South and benefit from a panoramic view of the city due to the sloped topography of the site.
The beauty of the exceptional geographical situation surrounded by dense vegetation has driven the design to open up the maximum area of exterior spaces in the form of a shared garden and private terrasses. Further the volume was developed to allow equal light and view conditions for all apartments.
The two U-shaped buildings uniform to a semi-closed ring form sheltering the central terrassed garden from street noise. The green heart of the apartment block is accessible from Boulevard Balmont via a central stair which leads to the pedestrian walkway in the North. Further, all habitants can access the garden from each circulation core on Level 3.
The project benefits from a large variety of apartments, differing in size and layout, with either dual or opposite orientation.
