Phase 3 of Sheffield’s Park Hill redevelopment
The transformation of the Park Hill Estate enters Phase 3 of the Estate’s regeneration.
Urban regeneration specialist Urban Splash has teamed up with student accommodation developer, Alumno Developments, to create accommodation for circa 350 students, new shops and facilities.

RIBA National Awards 2013 Citation:
This is a sensitive regeneration of an heroic Grade II* listed building that had become maligned due to the problems associated with poorly maintained social housing.

The client and the architects have addressed the somewhat contradictory demands of conservation and commerce. The team has worked with stakeholders English Heritage to find a balance between retaining the Brutalist language while changing public perception of the building.

New iridescent coloured panels give the street frontage a changing face while not challenging the original architecture. The result is visually striking without losing any of the original Modern look – the ‘streets in the sky’ live on.
