Theatre Workshops in Frankfurt
With the completion of the transport and landscaped areas, the conversion and extension of the workshops for the scenery and costumes of the Städtische Bühnen were completed on time for the new 2014/2015 season.
Owing to functional and regulatory shortcomings, the extensive workshop conversion work started as early as 2007. The operation of the stage was maintained unrestricted throughout the construction period and the various workshops were replaced by a new building in the existing complex comprising the opera house, the theatre and the “Kammerspiel” theatre.

Elbphilharmonie Building
This Hamburg concert hall designed by celebrated Swiss architects Herzog and de Meuron is essentially a “glass tower perched atop a giant brick warehouse, surrounded on three sides by water”.
The central auditorium of the ‘Elphi’ is clad in 10,000 gypsum-fiber white acoustic panels to assist acoustics for the musical perfomrances below. Each panel has a unique series of divots that scatter or absorb sound.

Amphion Theatre
The new theatre features slightly reclined facades with sand-coloured masonry and a playful pattern of square windows. From the interior, this creates surprising compositions imbuing each space with its own character. The audience enters the theatre through an ascending forecourt which plays the role of a red carpet.
