Vertical farming concept – Heath Park in Runcorn
Paul Treacy Architects and Kimia Benam Architects are delighted, as runners up, to present their final shortlisted submission for the Heath Park – Runcorn : RIBA Vision of Future Living competition.
The British architecture practice’s vison for the Iconic former ICI headquarters site propose to transform the 16 Hectares site into a world class beacon of “Agritecture“ food research, development and production facility.
This innovative cutting edge facility will bring world leading and UK research and technology to create a high tech “urban vertical farming food production“ facility supported by on-site research companies to generate food production to service the local region, the UK and worldwide.
The concept design by Paul Treacy Architects proposes a sustainable, ethical masterplan concept which puts community first and embraces a cutting-edge technology and process which focuses on people’s health and wellbeing by bringing communities together in the harvesting, cultivating and enjoyment of food.
Our thanks to John Lewis and his team from the SOG group and the RIBA judging panel for their support and encouragement through this rewarding process. We have thoroughly enjoyed the competition and we firmly and passionately believe that the emerging technology of Vertical farming and Agritecture now has the potential to become the new “Sustainable Tech Bubble“
Paul Treacy Architects also wish the winners Congratulations on their success.
