The project to convert a dilapidated Methodist Chapel into an Arts and Heritage Centre was the initiative of a group of local people looking for a place to house a collection of local artefacts. The closure of the library and the potential for a small gallery and cafe changed the brief to one for a new social hub for the village.
All spaces are unified by a simple black lacquered dado which changes according to requirements – from plain wall panelling to storage for books to display cabinets for the local historical artefacts. The detailing is simple, well made and deeply considered and the overall impression is both restrained but welcoming – a delightful experience.
