AB House Pafos – Modern Cyprus Villa

Located in a field in Geroskipou, the AB House sits on a generally level plot exposed to neighbouring views and public roads to the south and west. A single neighbouring house lies to the north, elevated above the site, while a public road and a row of mature conifer trees define the eastern boundary, from which access is gained.

The architectural concept is derived from two materials commonly found in the area: concrete pipe sections and metal sheet. These are translated into two distinct envelopes.

The first is a lightweight metal structure clad in glass and metal, forming the load-bearing framework of the house. Aluminium-framed glazing encloses the interior, offering uninterrupted views and a clean, minimal aesthetic.

The second envelope consists of stacked concrete pipe sections running along the north and south façades. Heavy and low-tech in character, this layer provides solar protection, wind shelter, and visual privacy, defining the threshold between the private interior and the surrounding landscape.

Internally, spaces are organised linearly along an east–west axis. An open-plan living area occupies the eastern end, while three bedrooms and a study are arranged along a gallery corridor. Large sliding glass doors open to a south-facing deck veranda with planted garden pockets and to a northern water corridor that enhances light, cooling, and ambience. Passive solar gains, shading devices, and integrated envelope systems contribute to thermal comfort and energy efficiency.
