Leading a multidisciplinary team of consultancies, Erick van Egeraat has started to work on a new urban revitalisation scheme for Canning Town in the London Borough of Newham. The area lies South of the development site for the Olympic Games 2012. EEA has produced a bold and comprehensive masterplan design for the regeneration of Canning Town. It seeks to manipulate the current infrastructure to establish a new street hierarchy and a series of parks creating a revitalised urban hub for this widely forgotten area in London.
Erick van Egeraat can draw from his previous experience in developing social housing projects in the Netherlands during the 1980s and from recent urban development schemes throughout Europe.
A consortium led by ING Real Estate has selected Erick van Egeraat as architect for a plot in the Quartier de l’Amphitheatre, a mixed-use development in the French City of Metz. This is the second in a series of upcoming projects for EEA in France.
The Mayor of Budapest, Mr. Gábor Demszky and the Board of Trustees of the Budapest Assembly have awarded Erick van Egeraat the “For Budapest” award in recognition of his architectural services to Budapest. To date, Erick van Egeraat is the only non-Hungarian to receive this award since its inception over 12 years ago.
The Budapest V. District Local Government together with the Association of Hungarian Architects have awarded Erick van Egeraat’s refurbishment project Deák Palota with the “Reitter Ferenc Prize 2006” in recognition of the outstanding design quality and inventive architectural design in heritage and historical environment.
(EEA) Erick van Egeraat founded his practice in Rotterdam in 1995 and now employs 120 professionals throughout offices in London, Budapest, Prague and Moscow. Erick van Egeraat has been involved in the realisation of more than 100 projects over his 25 years of practice.
The EEA architectural vision is to realise world-class architecture and masterplanning, which adds economic, social and cultural value to the local context. The office is presently working on the design and realisation of more than 40 projects all over Europe, Central Eastern Europe and Russia.
Realised projects include the ING Headquarters in Budapest (HU), Royal Netherlands Embassy Warsaw (PL), MIMA Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art (UK), Metzo College Doetinchem (NL), Faculty for the Biomedic Cluster of the University of Utrecht (NL) and City Hall in Alphen aan den Rijn (NL).
EEA’s projects in progress include Masterplan for Canning Town (UK), Masterplan for Oosterdoks Island Amsterdam (NL), Masterplan for Milanofiori Milan (IT), two projects for the Überseequartier/HafenCity Hamburg (DE), Vershina Trade and Entertainment Centre Surgut (RU), Mahler4 Office tower Amsterdam (NL), among many others.
