Hôtel de Police & Extension de Charleroi Danses, central Belgium

Hôtel de Police Charleroi – 6 Mar 2012
An unusual mixed-use development – a new police headquarters AND a dance school, on a former police cavalry site in Charleroi. A tower rises out of the existing renovated buildings of a former police cavalry. Beside preserving two remarkable wings of an existing cavalry building and adapting them according to low energy standards, this sustainable project includes a third vertical “wing”: a 75-meter new elliptical passive tower clad in blue bricks that accommodates very flexible police offices and facilities.

Kortrijk Hospital – added 11 Dec 2012
The principal urban development objective of this large-scale project, the dimensions of which far exceed those of the surrounding fabric, is to ensure the successful integration of the complex into a park-like setting. The use of a traditional courtyard structure is an effective means to this end.

Hidden within a traditional block of houses, the new extension to the Museum of Photography in Charleroi takes roots in the orchard of a former Carmelite convent. The building is inside the enclosure of the convent, which hides a big garden which has several trees registered with the Heritage Inventory.
