Unveils Remodelling of Award Winning Building, The Gallery
The transformation illustrates the commitment of the marina to improve the guest experience and offer service excellence throughout to provide the ultimate sea inspired meetings and events building in Barcelona. The careful interior design project has utlised the surrounding Mediterranean sea as the key influence, reflecting the concepts of fluidity, elegance and quality that characterise MPV.
Marina Port Vell Barcelona, a leading superyacht infrastructure in the Mediterranean, is delighted to unveil the remodelled facilities of its flagship building, the award-winning The Gallery. The marina’s commitment to this careful interior design project has involved the transformation of its entrance hall and the creation of new spaces available for meetings, with the aim of improving the customer experience and consolidating the excellence of the service it currently provides. In the words of Marta Tuñí, Director of Marketing and Communication at Marina Port Vell Barcelona, “we wanted to convey a greater warmth and exclusivity to be able to offer a truly unique experience, and clearly we have achieved it”.
The sea as a gateway to The Gallery
The objective of the interior design project, led by the Barcelona interior design studio, Alfons & Damián, has been to convert the hall of The Gallery into the calling card of Marina Port Vell, transmitting the concepts of elegance and quality that characterise the marina. Entering the glass building is a circular walnut bench with camel-colored upholstery that houses a lush natural kentia in the center.
Likewise, simulating a wave, as an allegory of the sea, we find another bench with different uses: on the one hand, it functions as a waiting area and, on the other hand, it becomes a small meeting space as it is accompanied by a round travertine table and a hanging lamp. All of this is accompanied by the floor covered with Hermitage marble that provides a point of brightness and light to the space, giving a sophisticated appearance to the hall of the marina. In the background, behind a travertine marble bookcase and glass shelves, designed expressly for this project, is a meeting room.
A VIP room for meetings
Presided over by a 6.5-meter travertine table, the room is crowned by a suspended slab, upholstered with terracotta-coloured acoustic fabric, which in turn is projected on the floor like a large carpet of geometric pieces of different matching colours. This table is surrounded by Rely & Tradition chairs, 16 in total. Perfect for holding meetings or boards of directors in a unique environment. Marta Tuñí explains that “this VIP room is perfectly prepared to host meetings in a unique environment in the city, we are sure that it will be a great success among companies in Barcelona”.
The room is rented by hours or days. In one of the corners, following the organic forms that define the project, a large support cabinet, which houses a bar cabinet and even a service cart, to be able to attend to meeting attendees. Natural linen curtains allow to give more privacy to the room without creating opacity, thus always allowing visual contact with the port and the sea. This space also has state-of-the-art audiovisual systems by Bang & Olufsen. On the one hand, Beovision Harmony: a television experience that takes the decoration of any space to a higher level, while enveloping it in impeccable sound.
Like a butterfly spreading its wings, two meticulously crafted oak and aluminium decks fan out while a fine screen rises allowing the viewer to enjoy an unprecedented view. Beovision Harmony is a spectacular piece of design that once again exemplifies Bang & Olufsen’s uncompromising approach to design, craftsmanship and sound efficiency. In addition, the space features the new Beoplay A9, the latest edition of the firm’s iconic speaker, widely recognised as one of the most distinctive and successful integrations of sound and beauty on the market to date.
Events above the sea
Marina Port Vell is a unique setting for holding events. Its spaces are designed to offer memorable experiences to its customers. In addition to The Sea Garden and Blue Wave spaces, now, with the new remodelling, access to the Crew Lounge, at the top of The Gallery building, offers guests extra sophistication.
This space, whose shape evokes the bow of a yacht, allows for fantastic views of the marina and the city, as it is glazed. It has a surface area of 200m2 and a capacity for 100 people. In addition to the room, the space has a terrace with capacity for up to 70 people and both spaces can be adapted to the needs and aspirations of the clients.
